Digital Dexterity
2023 Theme
Digital Dexterity is the measure of an organization’s ability to be tech-forward, flexible, and foster a dynamic culture dedicated to innovation and the customer experience. It’s the result of emerging technology and an organizational culture of change coming together to enable a technology-driven business to execute on its objectives quickly for competitive advantage.
This year’s conference focuses on the technologies and strategies that foster Digital Dexterity. We’ll dig into hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, security, AI ops, digital culture, the chip wars, artificial intelligence, and of course, Web3 and the metaverse.

When in Rome! In a first for Future Compute, we’re moving out of the conference center and into the classrooms and labs of MIT where we’ll explore the amazing world of quantum computing.
As one of the premier research facilities for quantum computing, MIT’s Engineering Quantum Systems Group EQuS has opened their labs and given us access to the top researchers working daily in this exciting field. The session will be a combination of talks from Quantum pioneers, a look into developing research projects within the lab, and a tour of the quantum lab itself. This is a one-time only event you won’t want to miss!
Join us for an early evening reception at the newly built MIT Museum in the heart of Kendall Square. Explore new exhibits such as “AI: Mind the Gap” and “Spatial Frequencies”, enjoy stimulating conversations with world-class technology leaders, and don’t miss your opportunity for a fun evening with some of the invited speakers and your fellow attendees. Drinks and appetizers will be served to fuel conversations and connections.
Digital dexterity necessitates an IT infrastructure that is open, adaptable, and expandable to achieve business objectives. The leaders building the hardware and the cloud that is the foundation of modern IT share their vision for the future of digital business.
Computing hardware is taken for granted these days. We assume perfection from our processors and expect improvements in power, speed and energy consumption with every new iteration. Enterprise computing provides the power for modern AI, cloud compute, metaverses and so much more. We investigate the hardware that runs the world and explore what’s coming next.
The potential for generative AI to positively shape our future is remarkable. We have a duty though to ensure fairness and avoid bias, and we must acknowledge that the technology is not yet mature in all areas. We examine the foundational principles of generative AI models, specific applications of generative AI, and our shared responsibility of being stewards of this impactful technology.
Digital dexterity is the perpetual synchronization of digital infrastructure and human innovation that allows organizations to run efficiently at speed and pivot effortlessly to take advantage of emerging technologies. We explore the ongoing transformation of the systems and staff at one of the world’s largest energy management organizations.

Top of mind for CTOs and CIOs today are cloud costs, security, and operational efficiency. We host open and frank discussions with leaders in each area to extract the dos and don’ts to running the most cost effective, secure, and automated IT operations.
The cloud offers transformational change to rethink business and drive innovation. Capitalizing on cloud requires more than a focus on technology, organizations need to leverage the power of their people and ecosystem partnerships. Humans are the most important aspect to achieving cloud-based business transformation. We explore real-world examples of what “good” looks like – the importance of having “business intimacy” with the technology teams as well as the human skills, both technical and soft, to realize the benefits of cloud.
How did a major short-term accommodation site shave 63 million dollars in cloud costs in one year? At the helm of the operation was a technologist that previously led Google’s shift to cloud and subsequently rebuilt Facebook’s Core Data organization. Hear the inside story and get practical savings tips from a pioneering cloud leader.
In IT’s heterogeneous, distributed, complex world, it can be a challenge to stay on top of the vast amounts of machine-generated data from monitoring, alerting and runtime systems. While the transformative promise of AI has yet to materialize in many parts of the business, AIOps offers a proven, pragmatic path to improved service quality, managing infrastructure and uncovering insights across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Cyber risk is no longer just about breaches, scams and attacks. Today’s businesses have multiple connection points that are vulnerable to power outages, natural disasters and other incidents that result in cyber related disruption and loss. We discuss the current state of cyber insurance and cyber risk management.
Digital dexterity is a combination of the right technology, the right processes, and a team with an action-oriented mindset that thrives on change. We explore strategies to foster the right behaviors and values for high-performance teams.
Our legacy is built on a foundation of more than 1,200 predecessor institutions tied to innovation and finance in their time. The competitive landscape today demands that we lead with innovation, manage competing priorities while focusing on business outcomes and controlling the cost curve.
High-performance teams deliver value to the customer at maximum speed. They’re cohesive, committed, understand business impact, and actively grow skillsets. You have a lot of talent in your organization and seismic shifts in quality and productivity can occur when you arrange them in the right way.
The workplace has changed more in the last two years than in the last two decades. The old playbooks for building a nimble, inclusive, and visionary organization are no longer relevant. Technology leaders must leverage this moment to create the workplace that will thrive in this new, dynamic paradigm.

The computing landscape is forever changing. New technologies emerge daily, and IT leadership needs to separate the trends from the trendy to capitalize on the innovations that matter. We examine what matters in web3, metaverses, and the battle for silicon.
The United States and China have been engaged in a decades-long battle to control what has emerged as the world's most critical resource—microchip technology. We discuss the complex circuitry of politics, economics, and technology in this 21st century geostrategic competition.
Much of the hype around metaverses has centered on social experiences where individuals and organizations connect in 3d digital worlds. Under the radar, back in the real world, Industrial Metaverses are using digitals simulation to exponentially accelerate design and manufacturing across industries. The technology largely exists, and the use cases are infinite.
While we have not reached consensus on what is and what is not Web3, common to all definitions is that blockchain is the foundational architecture. By definition, blockchains have the potential to disrupt existing business models by decentralizing control and ownership. We explore the technology, its timelines and potential for changing the way business is done.
