Brief Biography
Elica Kyoseva is Director of Quantum Algorithm Engineering at NVIDIA, where she leads a team pushing the boundaries of quantum-classical computing. Her work centers on designing and advancing quantum algorithms that unlock capabilities beyond the reach of classical computation alone — built to run on and scale with NVIDIA’s supercomputing architectures. She partners closely with leading organizations across the quantum industry — from hardware providers to enterprise end users — co-developing algorithms tailored to real-world constraints of today's and tomorrow's quantum devices. A particular focus is quantum algorithms for health and life sciences, where her team is driving breakthroughs with the potential to transform drug discovery, genomics, and other critical challenges.
Before NVIDIA, Elica conceived and led Quantum for Bio at Wellcome Leap — one of the most ambitious efforts to date to apply quantum computing to human health. The program united multidisciplinary teams from Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and IBM, producing the first-ever end-to-end quantum-classical workflow for simulating complex therapeutics and establishing a rigorous, evidence-based roadmap for where quantum computing can deliver real-world advantage in biology.
Elica holds a PhD in Quantum Optics from the University of Sofia. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Center for Quantum Technologies in Singapore, held a tenure-track faculty position at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, and was a Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also a Marie Curie Fellow and recipient of the 2016 John Atanasoff Award from the President of Bulgaria.
