Agenda overview

Our theme this year: Age of Action

AI is moving from generating answers to taking action. As models become more capable, agents enter real workflows, and new systems learn to understand and simulate the world around them, leaders face a more consequential question: what should AI be allowed to do?

EmTech AI 2027 will examine the technologies, strategies, and decisions shaping this next phase of AI, from business value and scientific discovery to products, security, work, and society.

As we enter this age of action, here are 5 questions on our EmTech AI 2027 whiteboard:

Hear from the executives, researchers, and builders shaping AI’s next phase. What are they watching, what assumptions are they questioning, and how are they preparing for a world where AI systems can reason, simulate, create, and act? Past invited leaders have included OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, IBM, and more.

As researchers push beyond today’s LLM-focused systems, new approaches to multimodal AI, world models, continual learning, and AI-assisted AI development could change what machines can understand, simulate, design, and do.

Agents are moving from demos to real workflows, raising urgent questions about trust, oversight, accountability, security, and control. Where should AI be allowed to act independently, and where should humans remain firmly in the loop?

From enterprise workflows to science, medicine, software development, government, and public services, AI is beginning to change how work gets done. Which organizations are turning new capabilities into measurable value, and what can leaders learn from how they did it?

AI is changing not only how organizations operate, but what people expect from software, devices, services, creative tools, and digital experiences. As intelligence moves into products, platforms, and everyday interactions, how will businesses rethink what they offer and how people engage?
