Brief Biography
Stephen Leonard is the General Manager of IBM’s Cognitive Systems division, where he is responsible for the development, sales, and marketing of IBM’s multi-billion-dollar Power Systems franchise. Power Systems servers are key to clients’ open hybrid cloud and enterprise AI strategies and empower clients to leverage infrastructure and core workloads in new and modern ways with intelligent workflows that deliver innovative digital products and solutions.
Previously, Stephen was General Manager for IBM North America, responsible for 40% of the company’s global revenue from hardware, software, and consultative services revenue. During that time, he implemented the restructuring of go-to-market agile systems to better address clients’ higher-value, data-driven IT requirements.
With an IBM career that spans over 25 years, Stephen has held a variety of global, regional, and country leadership roles overseeing business divestitures, acquisition integration, and business turn-arounds. He was Chief Executive of IBM United Kingdom and Ireland, where he was responsible for all facets of business, including strategy, sales, and technology development, and also served as Chairman of IBM United Kingdom and Ireland.
A native of Scotland, Stephen holds a degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from University of Dundee.
