Brief Biography
Saigopal (Sai) Nelaturi leads technology development and plays key roles in strategy and commercialization efforts for PARC and Xerox’s software solutions in digital design and manufacturing. At PARC, he runs the Computation for Automation in Systems Engineering research area in the System Sciences Laboratory. The area's goal is to research and develop next-generation representation, modeling, and analysis tools to support automation in systems engineering, design, and fabrication. He is a Principal Investigator on key DARPA-funded efforts in these areas and has contributed extensively to transitioning previous related DARPA-funded research into commercial partnerships and software products released to the market.

Sai’s academic research includes intelligent automation, digital manufacturing, geometric modeling, computational design, robotics, and spatial computing. He is currently an executive committee board member of the Solid Modeling association, program chair for the Solid and Physical Modeling conference, and Associate Editor for the Journal of Computer-Aided Design and the Journal of Computing in Information Science and Engineering. He has published extensively in computational design and manufacturing, and his research has been recognized with multiple best paper awards and nominations. In 2015, he was recognized by DARPA as a "Riser," an early career scientist representing the next generation of extreme innovators.

Dr. Nelaturi earned his PhD and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MSc in Manufacturing from the University of Bath in the UK, and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from RV College of Engineering in Bangalore, India.
