Brief Biography
Dr. Rebecca Saive is an Assistant-Professor in physics, nanophotonics at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Her research focuses on solar energy conversion, nanophysics, and light-matter interaction. Between March 2014 and January 2018 she worked in the Atwater group and developed light management strategies for photovoltaic devices. She has led the development of effectively transparent contacts (ETCs), a world-record solar cell front contact technology. Other research areas include optical modelling for improved solar cell performance, materials interface investigations, and nanoscale fabrication and measurement techniques. Dr. Saive’s PhD research at the University of Heidelberg led to the first observation of the in-operando voltage distribution within organic solar cells and light emitting diodes enabling the understanding of macroscopic devices properties with a microscopic model. She advanced research breakthroughs in the fields of organic electronics and plasmonics by performing high-end vacuum nano-technology such as precise positioning of nanoparticles for plasmonic antenna probing. During her Master project at TU Munich she contributed to the field of nanophotonics by demonstrating the first evidence for optoelectronic coupling of GaAs nanowires with GaAs photonic crystal waveguides through evanescent waves.
