Brief Biography
Alex D'Amour is a research scientist at Google Brain in Cambridge, MA. Formerly, he was a Neyman Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at UC Berkeley. Alex earned his PhD in the Department of Statistics at Harvard University, where he was advised by Edoardo Airoldi. Alex was also a member of the Harvard Laboratory for Applied Statistical Methodology & Data Science.

Alex’s work is primarily focused on problems in causal inference and fairness or where simple prediction is not enough. In research and in consulting, he has applied this work on problems in social network analysis, sports, healthcare, education, marketing, finance, microfinance, and entertainment.

Alex is an active member of the XY Research group, which conducts research in sports statistics with a focus on player-tracking data.
